Tik Tok Bake Along
Hey! Welcome to Colinstimetobake.com
So you want to bake along with me?
First, get your ingredients:
150g caster/granulated sugar
150g unsalted butter
150g self raising flour
2 tsp vanilla extract
150g Unsalted Butter
300g Icing Sugar
green food colouring
How to bake it:
Pre-Heat your oven to 350ºF/185ºC/gas 4 (get help from an older person if you need it)
Put your sugar and butter into a bowl and mix until smooth and combined. Add in your 2 eggs, and mix again. Now add your flour and mix once more. Put in the vanilla extract and stir it around until it smells delicious!
Fill a cupcake tin with cupcake cases, and use a regular sized ice-cream scoop to scoop the mixture into each case. Each scoop should be level, ensuring each case has the same amount of mixture. You should be able to make 12 cupcakes from this. If you have extra and can make more, go for it.
Place your tray into the oven for 15-20 minutes. Make sure not to open the oven too early, or the cake could sink. Use a knife/skewer to see if the cake is ready. It should come out clean when you poke the cake in the middle.
Leave to cool completely on a wire rack.
When its cooling, take your icing sugar and butter- it’s time to make the green icing. Place your butter into a bowl, and start mixing it on its own. Slowly add the icing sugar (get help if you need it), don’t put it all in at once, or it will fly everywhere. You know its ready when it looks like a thick cream and there are no lumps. if the butter is straight from the fridge, warm it up a little in the microwave in 10 second blasts- or leave out the fridge until room temperature.
Add some green food colouring to the buttercream and mix until you have the green shade you want. Put this into a piping bag with a star shaped nozzle. Don’t worry if you dont have a pipingbag/nozzle, you can also use a sandwich bag and cut a corner out.
Take your buttercream and pipe stars/little blobs in a circle, around the edge of your cupcake. Sprinkle some sprinkles over the top as decoration, and add your edible bows. (You can get the bows from amazon/ebay/cake decoration shops- or make your own using red fondant).
Ta da! Ready to eat.
